The production of fluorine-18 radionuclide in DHARMAIS Cancer Centre Hospital has been presented in this paper. Fluorine-18 radionuclide is used as a labeling for PET radiopharmaceutical in the form of 18FDG (2-18F fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose) which is required in the PET (Positron Emission Tomography) imaging for the clinical diagnosis of human body organ abnormality.

The F-18 radionuclide production using 11 MeV Eclipse Cyclotron in Dharmais Cancer Hospital has been evaluated. The targets used in this production is O- 18 enriched water (H2 18O) with enrichment of 97%. The evaluation was conducted for the production during the third quarter of 2015. Generally, the resulted yield of F-18 radionuclide was influenced by the proton beam current on the target, the period time of iradiation, and the O-18 enrichment. However, the condition of the target chamber also affected to the value of the obtained yield. With the clean condition of the target chamber after maintenance, the obtained yield of F-18 radionuclide would be close to the theoretical calculation and the yield would decrease with duration of the use after the maintenance.
